Are there any Toyota tech in the house? I need to replace the front rotors on my 02 Tundra. What is the procedure to push the pistons back in to re-install the pads? I have done this with older GM vehicle but heard these are different animals. Thanks.

with the ones I had 86 and 93 4x4's for front rotors, same as any vehicle, pop off MC cap, place rag underneath, use a C Clamp to depress pads in caliper, remove pads, pop off rotors, resurface or replace, reinstall, install new pads in calipers, use anti squeak on backs, top off MC, replace cap, pump pedal a few times, road test, recheck MC fluid level. No need to bleed if you have not emptied MC.

You can also use a large pair of slip joint pliers; with the caliper in place - use two large screwdrivers wedged in and pry in opposite directions; with the old pad still in - one large screwdriver (quickest for flat rate); my favorite - vise-grip c-clamp pliers.

I just use a small block of wood across the top of the piston and a C clamp. Screw it down until the piston is flush with the caliper body. Buda Bing!

Usually after the first one you need to draw off brake fluid from the resevoir to keep it from overflowing. Use a clean suction bulb and if the fluid is still clear you can reuse it if you need it.

Well, it's a quad pistons caliper, 2 pistons on each side. I had to pressed in, just like the old one, one side at a time, locked it in and then did the other side. If I don't lock it in, the side that was pressed in came out when the opposite side was pressed. Wasn't that hard, just time consuming.

C-clamp in the middle they both will go in with the old pad still in place. I can't tell how many i did that way.

Agree with ChiefAlen on how he does his brakes. I did my truck 1999 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan and used the old brake pads and a C-clamp to compress the pistons in flush with the body of the caliper and WALLA it works great. Just do one caliper at a time so you don't push the opposite side brake caliper out of its piston and create more work for you. I also helped the neighbor across the street do brake drum brake shoes and had a hard time getting the drum off but finally got it off after careful prying with a couple of big large straight screw drivers. Hope this helps you out. Bob:)

Gentlemen have you seen a Tundra front caliper? They are quad pistons and you really can't get the C clamp trick to work on them. The snap on tool works good.

This is just FYI
