i recently acquired a 1995 tracker boat. i knew when i bought the boat that the full deck carpet and rear plywood decking would need to be replaced! after i rip up old carpet is it best to remove the live well and counsol and pull the plywood and fold carpet to the back and staple OR do i just apply glue - burnish carpet - and then just push carpet down the between walls and deck with a putty knife!

the area that needs ply wood replaced is the back where the pedistal seat is located - i have not seen what is under the ply wood - but the seat screwed into something! do i have to get anything special to install seat stand or can i just come up through new floor and bolt down from the top this time?

thanks for any help!

You will answer a lot of your own questions when you start tearing into it, I know I sure got schooled about my own misconceptions when I could see how it was done originally. Definitely need some pictures though, it gets more interest and people don't like to make recommendations based on assumptions alone. This is the right place to get those questions answered though!

You will need to wrap the pieces of decking individually with carpet and then install them by screwing the decking down through the carpet. This is the factory installation method for Tracker and most other aluminum boats.

You'll need to wrap the carpet over the edges and onto the back/bottom of the decking like this:

Glue and staple the carpet on the back of the decking before securing to the decking.

As for the pedestal seat mounting, you will need "T" nuts, you can see some at the bottom of the picture above. Make sure they're stainless steel 1/4-20 thread.

What kind of plywood do you plan to use?
