I am thinking for my 3rd of boat going new. the wife and I like the complete package of this one. rivets scare the crap out of me, maybe I am paranoid. the price is fair enough too. BTW, we mainly fish 1200 acre lakes and occasionally the river. sometimes we drag a tube behind.

what do the experts say?

Re: tracker quality?

Tracker is an okay boat, they are entry level and have been know to not have the greatest quality, which is not to say it isn't a good boat they just use cheaper stuff on it, stick your head under the dash and check out the wiring and just look it over really well and make up your own mind, if it is a good boat it will be apparent.

Don't let the rivets scare you, they are every bit as good as a welded hull, i have an '81 Sea Nymph rivet boat and it is still dry after all these years.

Research all your options and the right boat will find you, good luck.

^^^+1. Riveted boats are fine. And I have never this line of reasoning but I would think that if your going to use a lighter grade aluminum for a boat that riveted may be the best choice. I have based this on observation of truck tool boxes in our fleet. After several years the welds crack because they do flex and the thinner aluminum can't handle it. Every one that we have repaired with angle and rivets has held up well. Just a thought anyway and no basis for fact other than my observations. That said I have had many riveted and welded boats and have never had a failure in either one.

Re: tracker quality?

Tracker is famous for underpowering boats to keep the package price down and putting them on trailers barely adequate. Wouldn't surprise me to find that the rest of the package is priced down by lower quality accessories, too.

I definitely don't recommend their "packaged" boats. Though the hulls seem adequate for entry level everything else takes advantage of boat newbies lack of knowledge.

Go to a dealer of more reputable boats, talk with the sales staff about what you want to do and have them assemble a package tailored to your particular wants. Then get an on-the-water demo of that package.

You will probably spend a bit more, but you will be a lot more satisfied.

I don't know how the capacity rating compares to other brands; but it says 5 persons then it says persons by weight 620 that's about 4 persons at about 150 per. Also I wonder where the 22 gal gas tank is located. Also where is the live well. It appears the batterties are in the rear portion of the boat.If too much in the stern you could have performance problrems. It does seem to be a well equipped package even a swing away tongue.

Re: tracker quality?

There seems to be a rash of new iboaters adamant about buying brand new boats. I cannot comprehend that, especially with regard to aluminum boats. What they're asking for that Tracker would buy one heck of a two or three year old boat of exponentially higher quality. Previous posters have accurately assessed the quality of Tracker boats so I won't waste any cyberspace doing the same. They're fine. I have one myself. However, why not buy something slightly used but well maintained and much better for the same or less? I understand the aversion to inheriting someone else's headache, but that's just not that likely if you're the least bit careful when searching, and you could even buy something from dealer stock with a warranty to ease your mind. Don't mean to pile on. I just think your hard earned scratch could be put to much better use.

I agree. It's scary to think people can't see the great deals to be had out there. It still is a buyers market!!!!
