Trailer brake help needed...

Hi Guys,

I have a 2000 Aluminator tri-axle trailer and I need so help identifying my brake calipers. The trailer mfgr. is out of business, so I can't call them for help. I was hoping that maybe someone here had similar brakes. The calipers have no markings, other than LEFT and RIGHT, so I am obviously having a problem ordering parts. I would like to rebuild the calipers and replace the pads, but until I identify my setup, I'm not able to do much. I have attached a few photos in hopes that someone recognizes the calipers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Get in touch with a trailer repair place and they can tell you what to look for.

Or a trailer supply place. I have purchased complete backing plates fully loaded new for only a few dolllars more than the parts needed to repair. I've used
Allied in Sacramento and LV trailer supply in Vegas both top notch>

What kinda axle does it have.. Trailer manufactures don't build the axles and brake components.. They just build the frame and slap their name on it..

Like said above.. Take off the caliper and take it to the trailer part supply.. They have this big book with pictures and measurements.. They should be able to help you out..

Is the piston stuck?

You could take the thing to NAPA.. Bet they have a rebuild kit that will fit it.. It's nothing but a seal and a dust boot..

Thanks for all your responses. No one was able to ID my calipers, so rather than fight it, I purchased a complete package to replace what I have. I would like to point out that the LEAST helpful company in trying to ID my calipers was Tie Down Engineering. Needless to say I did not purchase anything made by them and even went so far as to pull off the working TDE backup solenoid and replace it with one from Kodiak.

BTW, I did take one of the calipers to NAPA and O'Reiley to see if I could match them up.....wasn't going to happen. I knew I was in trouble when the guy at NAPA wanted to know which engine I had. I told him a 5.7 Mercruiser, to which he told me they did not have that in their computer.

Anyway, thanks,
PB

yeah you gotta have a NAPA guy who is willing to put forth some effort... Shame huh?. Bet they had a rebuild kit that would fit it though he was just to lazy or stupid to find it...

Many years ago I owned an auto parts store and my guys were trained to go out of their way to help the customer (MAKE THE SALE). Now it seems that if you ask for anything more than a filter, you are out of luck. I had the same problem when I went looking for spark plugs. I gave the guy the AC Delco number, but he couldn't figure out what their part number was, so I purchased them online. These stores sit with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of inventory, but unless the counter guy knows his stuff, it's just all paperweights. Very sad.
