Just carried out pre-season service on my boat trailer and find that one of the brake shoe springs has snapped.
(Starboard side )

This is the view of the brake back plate assembly:

This is the broken spring:

This is where it fits:

This is a standard 5 stud 10" drum.

Anybody know where I can get a replacement spring ... it's a Karavan trailer, but they have a minimum order.

I'm not in US so can't 'walk along' to a trailer place to ask, need to find a source on line where I can buy a spring ... I can get it sent to a US address who will forward to me.

Any suggestions for spares ?

If anyone has a local shop and would be willing to pick one up & post to me ... I'd happliy pay.

Re: Trailer Brake Spares

Looks like a pretty standard brake spring. I'd make a trip to an auto parts store (preferably one with and old guy that remembers drum brakes) and see what they can match up. Or cruise around a pic-a-part junk yard and find one.

EDIT: or try this (I should have checked here 1st):

Not a standard part in Europe .... hydraulic brakes are not allowed on boat trailers in Europe, as trailers mus have a handbrake by law.

Trying to find US supplier ........ so far best seems to be a $59 kit
