Hi there I am rebuilding a trailer for a 15 fletcher boat. I have replaced all the rollers but the two bunks were made of box steel with a plastic cover over them which you can imagine there is no steel now under the plastic. Would you think it is best to just get some more box steel and cover using the same stuff. I have read that you can get carpet for this. What sort do I need and what is the best material for the frame (runners)

Regards Neil

Re: Trailer bunks

I wouldnt do steel, seems like a high cost, and I've never seen a steel bunk. I built my bunks for my jetski trailer using 2x6 treated and covered in carpet.

Re: Trailer bunks

I bought carpeting from Bass Pro specifically made for trailer bunks. You can get almost any color you wish. It is already cut into long strips and you can purchase it based on the length you desire.

Worked great for me. i applied it over new 2x4 pressure treated lumber.

I haven't checked here at iboats shopping but I know that the 3 major fishing stores also carry roller bunks if that may interest you and may even bolt right on.
