Hi folks,
I like to convert my 4'x4' flat bed trailer to carry 10'6''
inflatable ( not rigid bottom) boat ...
I already tried but failed ( installed two Styrofoam blocks )
but the problem is that the trailer is floating :)

Any ideas ...better yet pictures ?

Thanks

never seen a trailer for a non rigid. i think you would have to load it upside down, and strap heck out of it. maybe put a spoiler on the trailer to keep it down. i also think the bed of the trailer would have to be longer than the boat. my be easier to install a 110 inverter on the truck with an air compressor.

try blocking air flow between trailer and boat, and using a drop hitch reciever, so the trailer is level, the front looks like it is higher than the back, thus the air is getting under it and picking it up. it my just work by lowering the tongue. that's a very light unit and it won't take much to pick it up.

Yeah, the picture was taken before I got the proper hitch for it ...
My problem is that when I back it in to the water the trailer floats and won't drop the boat :)

i think he means its floating when its in the water

replace the foam with wood, make a nice surface for it to lay on

I converted an old trailer into a trailer for my inflatable, I just made an "A" frame out of PVC covered wood, welded some extentions from the trailer, you can't really see so clearly on the pic but if you use your imagination you can see what I mean ..... mine doesn't float .... :)

Mine is having inflatable keel so I would have to
create two platforms. Would you have pic without the boat on ? :)

Thanks

Many Fire Departments have trailers for there inflatables for swift water rescue......If you are worried about it looking good flip the trailer over and add ahundred pounds or so? Go to a sporting goods store and buy some 45 lb plates drill them out and Stainlees steal bolt them on? Sound easy enough and it will look good!

doesn't everybody have an old weight bench in there garage, that hasn't been used in years. or get rid of the styrofoam, if you have to block up the bed, and carpet it. that's enough styrofoam that if it was in the Titanic, it would still be floating. LOL.

It appears you have a plywood platform.Just cut down
the foam so it is just high enough to put boat above the fenders.Or just put blocks under the plywood to raise it enough and eliminate the foam.
