trailer guides, not galvanized

I have a pair of trailer guides, the ones that utilize the PVC for posts. The mounting hardware is not galvanized. Does anyone know how to "prep" this metal so that I can use a spray on galvanizing. Any tips appreciated.

if your worried about it go to the marine store and just buy some galvinized hardware, or make sure it is clean and oil free, and spray. they are going to rust anyway, if in salt environment.

For a really good bond, sandblast the parts in a cabinet, blow the dust off & paint. Don't touch parts with bare skin after blasting.
