Re: trailer hitch extension

Find a utility trailer manufacturer and repairer in your area. They would be able to modify the tongue on your trailer. But be advised, adding any kind of extention to your tongue is going to change the balance of your trailer. You may have to reposition the axle as well.

Yep, hope your just using the extension at the launch and not on the highway.

Re: trailer hitch extension

stay bent the best thing to do is to change out the tongue completely, with a longer tongue. i always buy my trailer longer than needed. it's a pain when you can't put he tailgate down on the truck, or open the hatch on a suv. i have a mercury mariner now and always open the hatch when backing.

I just want to use the extension at the ramp not while towing.

i like the idea of the extendahitch. going to do some investigating on it. my latest trailer sits higher than all my others, even with a long tongue,

I extended mine for the same reason. I found a metal working place to cut some square tubeing and then weld the section on. I did the wire part.
