A test light, some solder and shrink tube, or some high quality butt connectors with the shrink tube epoxy on them.
It's gotta be water tight. Everything under there gets soaked.

How much voltage are we talking about? 12v?
Do you think a multimeter will help?

disconnect where you would put the "T", with a multimeter, find the purpose of each wire, and splice into it, according to the above color code for the trailer. reconnect the wiring harness. All the "T" is, is a premade splice.

Nice. They should go one step further and have these with the pigtails...one less connection (actually four) to corrode.

Henry, they make a complete harness that you simply plug into each tail light socket and run your connector down to where you want it.. These are wonderful...never had any problems out of them...next best thing to factory. They run about $35-45. Any trailer shop should handle these.

Suburban wiring code:

Brown - Tail lights (and license plate light)
Yellow - Left turn/hazard light
Dark Green - Right turn/hazard light
Light Green - Back Up lights

Connect the brown to brown and the yellow to yellow. Connect the green on the trailer harness to the dark green on the Suburban. IGNORE the light green on the Suburban and connect the white on the trailer harness to a ground on the Suburban.
