I have a 1993 ford bronco with the tow package 7 prong trailer adapter plug.I purchased a used boat with trailer that needed new lights. So got a new set of submersible triler lights 4 wire.Yellow/ yellow brown and green /green brown and white. Installed grounding the white wire to the frame with each light. Ran the wiring up to the front of the trailer and undid all the wires from the 7 prong adapter on my bronco.black with blue stripe, black with green stripe, orange, blue, green, yellow, brown.
Hooked up color code yellow, green, and brown and grounded the white directly to the frame on the truck from the trailer.brake lights work, turn signals work when I turn on the running lights they work now when I step on the brakes the lights turn off.when I use the turn signals (truck blinks, trailer off truck off trailer blinks) out off sync. I cant seem to find a wiring diagram that tells me exactly what wire is for what on the truck.I have tried different wires still same results.Any Idea's..

if your lights go off at any point you probably got a ground screwed up on that circuit. Its gotta be in the brake wiring. When you hit the brake its shorting to ground. your running lights and turn signals are screwed up recheck. you should put all the wires back on your ford and buy an adapter 7 to 4 and a test light to find out whats doing what as far as turn signals, brakes, running lights, 12v+, ground, reverse lights(Surge brake lock out)

GREEN grass on my RIGHT(turn)
YELLOW stripe to my LEFT(turn)
BROWN underwear without LIGHTS(running)
white is ground
blue is reverse
as far as the truck the test light hooked to frame(neg) will tell you.

7 prong adapter on my bronco.black with blue stripe, black with green stripe, orange, blue, green, yellow, brown.

blk,blue ----- brakes? n/a
blk,green ----- brakes? n/a
orange---- i believe this is hot 12+ volts but n/a for your boat trailer
blue----reverse n/a on almost all boat trailers

green---- blinker right
yellow----- blinker left
brown---- running lights
white-----ground

not quite sure how i got 8 wires on a 7-way plug

i believe the 2 wires with stripes is for a brake accuater telling them to react or retract not 100% sure. most of this is just repeat from solmar, id put a test light on the vehical frame and test your trucks 7-way most times they need replacing every 2-3 years if you live where it snows the salt will corrode it, even with the fancy spring cover on it.
