I just lifted my boat off the trailer and want to pait the trailer. It is rusted all over and I don't know exacly how to remove the rust before I pait other than sanding it down.

Is there another way or other tools that can help me remove the rust quicker. I also have the corroseal liquid but I am not sure if this will remove it all. Some places are also hard to reach.

If you guys have any adivce it is greatly appreciated.

Re: trailer paint

Air compressor and sandblaster then just sand blast it with the gun. Finish my sanding by hand. Then apply fiberglass and bondo to really bad spots. It's not fun and I'm not good at it...I'm really not good at painting but I wish I were.

Re: trailer paint

If you have one of the small angle grinders they make a knotted wire cup brush that removes rust very quick without laying out a bunch of money.
McMaster Carr, Home Depot or lowes should have them, just make sure it's the knotted wire, the regular wears out too fast.

You have to be carefull using it, full face shield, no one in striking distance of flying rust and it can get away from you so side handle and leather gloves.

They work real good, just be carefull.

I am currently in the process. I used a angle grinder with two different types of wire brushes both the knotted. I took it all the way down to bare metal. I took every bolt and nut off and cleaned them. I primed the all the frame and componets with rustoleum rusty primer, I have two coats of rustoleum paint on it now. I will begin reassebly next week. I picked glossy paint, next time I would go with satin.

I hope this helps.
