Trailer rollers

OK I got my boat off the trailer to fix bunk boards now I am thinking I should rattle can the trailer also. Taking all the stuff off I do not want paint on but how do you get the end caps off the rollers I have one to go the first one I had to cut off with the die grinder is that the way to get them off?

Ayuh,... Sometimes they'll come off with a Wonderbar, or a Wrecking bar,... claw hammer style...
Drive 'em back on with an appropriate sized socket...
