Trailer switch won't work

Have a 1984 mercruiser 260 alpha 1. The Tim up and trim down work but trailer switch won't. Handle and switch are new last year. Assume bad connection at pump.

Wiring diagrams don't tell me which wires are for trailer or where trailer wires run into pump or solenoid. I assume its simple circuit

Any help is appreciated.

What control do you have? Photo would be handy. Are the buttons on the control or on the dash?
Trailer can be wired several ways, separate button or one you have to push along with the up button.
