Trailer Upgrade

Over the past 6 months I have been trying to make a decision to either upgrade my float on aluminum trailer or purchase a new one. The trailer that came with my used boat was thrown in to sweeten the deal. The problem with the trailer is that it was too small in weight capacity for my boat. So after doing a lot of research it looks like I will need to spend about $3,000 which includes the labor to install the components consisting of 2 sets of 5200 pound torsion axles, two sets of 12 inch disc brakes, four 15 inch tires along with a 10,000 pound actuator. I did check and my I-beams are heavy duty so they will stay. The price of a new trailer with the same equipment would run me $4,600 or $1600 more. Does it pay to retrofit the older 2006 trailer which is in excellent shape or just spend an additional $1,500?

Re: Trailer Upgrade

Sell your current trailer, use the proceeds towards a new one that you know has the proper capacity.
