Anyone out there know of a website that I can get a documented trailer weight for a 1998 Escort (for a 98' 20' Trophy)? I've been on NADA, Bayliner, Trophy, and Brunswick with no luck. The data is worn off the tag on the trailer, and I didn't see anything on the inside of the tube frames in the rear. Saw that trick on another post.

Re: Trailer Weight

Take it to the public scales while the boat is docked. You will know for sure then.

What do you want to know, the weight of the boat or the weight of the trailer? Or both?

There will be a certified scale in or near your town. I was able to weigh my rig at a local recycling station for $5.00. Most of these scales are certified and your printout will be a "documented weight".

Re: Trailer Weight

Or are you looking for the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating for the trailer? If that's what you want, the only place to get it for sure would be the manufacturer. You could get a good estimate by looking at the trailer frame, axles, spindle sizes, and tires.

For instance, my trailer is a Load-Rite dual axle, 1987 build date. It's got 4" heavy channel for the main longitudinal frame, 3" heavy channel cross members (3), and a 3" square tube tongue. Originally called for E78-14 B tires, I've put ST195R14 tires on it (much greater load capacity than the original tires). I've got 1" outer OD, 1 3/8" inner OD spindles, and the axles are 2" square beams. The trailer has a 5000 lb GVWR, and is rated for 4015 lbs carrying capacity.
