Trailering With Cover

I have a 18' Bass Buggy Pontoon that has a factory snap on cover...one of those with the 4-poles that hold it up so it is tight. Does anyone trailer with a cover like this? I have always taken it off but plan to haul a couple of hundred miles to son's house and leave while we go back and get travel trailer. Would like to leave on so won't have to recover when get there. Any thoughts??

Let's see a picture. If you don't have reinforecements on all rub points including the windshield, I wouldn't.

I don't think highway trailering with a cover is generally a good idea, no matter what the ads say, and especially for an odd-shaped boat. And certainly not with just snaps.

I can't count the number of covered toons I've seen happily buzzing down the highway...

the cover is always tight and smooth on the front, top, and sides but the rear is always flapping violently and usually tattered

I think I've convinced myself that's it's a bad idea to leave cover on. The way it snaps on at front entrance gate would allow too much air to get underneath. That could rip off all snaps and worse.........blow completely off and create a safety hazard for traffic behind me.

I've drug mine over 2500 miles with a well made cover in the past 5 years. No problems. No blowouts. But, mine's not a toon, maybe it's different with your boat. It comes down to the quality of the cover and the profile of the boat. Some designs won't stand up, and who knows what aerodynamic pressure your setup has. Mine works, yours may not. It could be an expensive experiment if it doesn't. Best bet is to tow it with someone behind to look for balooning or compression of the cover and make your best call.

I've always taken mine off before we head out and when the day is done we button it up. Whether just going to the lake down the street or heading over to the coast.
