Re: Trans cooler install advise please

The best way is to fabricate flare fittings, solid tubing with small lengths of SS shrouded flex hoses.

If this isn't practical at least use barbed fittings at all hose to tube joints. I've just witnessed to many hoses blowing off on cold winter mornings.

I install using the cooler in the radiator also. Keep in mind this adds extra plumbing that could fail. I plumb the extra cooler before the radiator. This way it allows the cold ATF to heat up quicker in colder weather.
Use hydrolic hose and double clamp all connections with solid SS clamps. Recheck the clamp tightness in a couple of weeks after initial installation and include it in your maintenence list. Use as much solid tubing as possible.
To clean up the installation I cover all the plumbing, clamps, hoses and tubing with plastic wiring loom conduit.

Thanks Skinny. I got a Hayden kit, so all I have to do is install... I was thinking the pressure side also... pre-cool it and then run into the radiator.
