Advice please. I have a starcraft FM160 that I have finished restoring and am adding a new depth finder (Lowrance hook 2 7) The original transducer is circled in red. I am thinking that is a bad position. I want to move it to the yellow. What do you think? is there a better position on my boat? Thanks!

Oh and yes i have read a ton on this, just want some input. :)

Thanks

if it works in the existing location, I would leave it. however if its behind a line of rivets, it will need to be moved.

I cannot say for certain with your hull but ours, that current position would never work. To much aeration and the transducer may not be in the water completely except at low speeds. I would relocate inward as you suggest as you are more likely to have clean water there and better operation when running at speed. Just keep it far enough away from the prop that it does not disturb water flow into the prop.

If the unit has side scan, there are specific requirements on the location of the transducer relative to the enter line of the boat. Otherwise it doesn’t matter.

i see two issues.
1. The outside transducer is too close to chine.
2. Looks like the bunk is in way of second location.

typically 12”-14” from center line works well
