Transducer mounting options..

I have 20ft pontoon boat, that is used in Bay ( Saltwater ). Currently when I am running over a very low speed I lose the bottom with my depth finder.

I know this is do to the turbulence cause by motor. It is currently mounted on back of one log. I believe one option would be to make up a bracket and lower the transducer below the log depth. I saw a design in this or another boating site.

After all of that my question is, are there any other mounting options that will work with pontoon boat that my not work with conventional hull?

Thanks,

Re: Transducer mounting options..

On toon all you have is the back of the tube so that is where it has to go, generally there si a bracket involved, do you have a bracket or is it mounted right to the tube?

Getting it lower should help your probelm is how are you going to mount the bracket to the tube?

A local welder should be able to help you out with this, short of that I don't know how you woudl mount it to where it would stay on the tube.
