Ok i have seen other threads on this subject but wanted to get your opinions anyway. I have my transducer mounted below the hull, so its probably 2 inches below so to speak. I cant get it to read at WoT and am under the impression that i have it mounted to low. What do you think, should the bottom of the transducer itself just be below the bull. THanks for the help.

Yes, too low. The transducer bottom should be 1/8-1/4" at most below the hull on the downside (towards the motor). It should also be adjusted to angle down about 5 degrees at the back.

too low.

I think a bit higher even than fishmen111 - the centerline of the 'ducer should be even with the hull (tiny bit above on the keel side, tiny bit below on the chine side), and parallel to the waterline, which might not be level on the trailer parked at the curb.

Tight enough in the bracket to stay put at high speeds, but not so tight as to prevent it kicking up if (when) it hits an obstruction.
