Hello guys, I just purchaced a Garmin FF 140. I have a 1986 Bayliner I\O. My question is this: After I drill the 1" hole for the massive connector plug, what is the best way cover the hole? I'm going to fill it with silicone, but to my disapointment, Garmin didnt ship a grommet or any type of cover. My bro-in-law purchaced the Garmin GPS, it uses the same transducer and he got a plastic cover for the hole. Any ideas???

Thanks
Brandon

Re: Transducer mounting question

I have a GME tranducer and the locking ring comes off, with the ring on I would have had to drill a 1" hole but with the ring off it was less than 1/2", it was fiddly to get it off so its worth a try.

I had the same problem a few years ago and used a small SS clam shell, see this link for a picture to get an idea SS Clam Shell You can get really small ones at most marine supply places

Re: Transducer mounting question

Try calling Garmin and explain. Tell them they didn't send a cover. I'll bet they drop ship one to you at no cost. If you have to tell them you'll return the unit if they don't send you something. My bet is they'll send it just to keep a happy customer.
