Looking for info...
I have a lead on 2 Borg Warner transmissions for sale. The ad reads:
"Borg Warner marine transmissions. Like new condition. The bell housing are set for GM 4.3, 5.0, 5.7, and 7.4 engines.
I have 2 of them. Cash only. $600 for both Don't miss this deal".
My questions:
1) How can I bench test them (if I can) to see if their sound?
2) I have Mercruiser 7.4L MPI's. I didn't know if the bell housing were the same for the big block as for the 4.3L.
3) How can I tell if one is reverse rotation? Can it be changed by the indexing valve?
I'm not sure of any of the particulars yet (year, ratios, etc).
What are the general thoughts on this? Does it sound too good to be true? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Larry
