transom core on new keywest boats

while looking at some new KW, i found quite a few waiting on new motors to be bolted up.<br />the mounting holes were drilled and left exposed to the elements.<br />when peering into the holes - you can actually sea where the center core has shred away from the fiberglass.<br />all of the holes were like that.<br />-<br />it looks like it would if you drilled into a piece of plywood hitting the edge of a void in the center.<br />-<br />KW advertises "no wood no rot", but what is the core of the transom made of - to have it shred like that?<br />-<br />with that material missing in between, seems that would set the stage for a bolt being pulled through- or atleast caving in around the edges of the hole.
