Not much help in the title. Am replacing the transom on a 1984 Galaxy 17' BR. Got almost all the "stuck on" plywood off of the inside of the transom and will be grinding and making templates soon. In the process of looking and dreaming (err...planning) didn't like the look of the transom cutout. Got a good straight edge (not a piece of lumber) and placed across the outside of the transom. The edges of the cutout are about 1/8" "drawn in" off the straight edge. It tapers from about 4" out and gets to the 1/8" max at the edge of the hole.
Will this "straighten" itself when it gets new real wood behind it? Has this taken place over so many years that the transom has now taken a set and I will have problems installing the wood for the transom? Will I need to apply special techniques to "push it back" when I install the new transom wood?
Hopefully someone has faced this before and has an answer.
Thanks for any and all comments.
