Hi Guys
Just installed a new transom . Used 3 sheets of 1/2 " marine plyform. Must say the job was well done. After the fiberglassman left I decided to do some tinkering.Made a big mistake by using a drill bit and hole saw and bored the six holes for the gil bracket about 1-1/4" .The bolts on the bracket are only 5/8 " . Sure I could load the thing up with 5200 and place an aluminum band say 2 " wide at the inner transom but I am afraid that its going to be too flexible and will take water in short time. Also the boat stays in the water. The workman says that he will be getting six bolts of the same size and line them up in the middle of the holes and cast the expoxy mix around them . Will pull them out when they resin is cured and we should be fine again.
Any ideas will be helpful !
