I am going to work on the transom this weekend. I plan to oversize drill the transom mounting stud holes so I can fill with resin and then drill to size later. Is this an overkill procedure? I can use the transom skin as a template for the holes and the keyhole, but it will be a trick to drill through 2 inches of material and not drill out of square. What are some good solutions to drill square? I know mercruiser sells a transom drill jig, but seems a bit expensive for a one off job. Help please! Thanks.
