transom mount

I purchased a 89' Merc 50 horse recently and I thought the seller gave me all the parts. But I'm missing the axel tube that slides into the transom mount. Can't seem to find one online. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Is this the vertical tube or the horizontal tube that you are referring to? Take a look at Boats.Net for your part.

Its the horizontal tube. I will check there thanks. One more question though, there is a nylon strap on the mount also that looks to be some sort of safety strap. Its torn all the way through. Is this really needed? My last motor didn't have one.

You can work without it. Take care raising the motor.

What does it actually do then? It looks like they don't make it for my motor any more so I won't be able to replace it.
