Transom question?

On my "64 Westfield the wood transom is curved.If it was to be replaced with new wood,how could it be done?(mine is solid still!)Thanks

Welcome aboard ! If you needed to do wood , there would be two options - layering thiner wood to build up to 1 1/2" thick or Kerfing the wood and bending it as its installed . If I had a choice - on a curved transom I'd pour one in !!!!

Here's a pic before i washed her,she looks MUCH better now!I just picked up the vintage Holsclaw trailer,i need to adjust it for the boat still(lengthen the tong too!).

I have it.The frame is nice,but it needs new glass!

Hey, COOL Westfield THEPATRIOT!! I have a '68 Westfield I'm in the process of fixing up myself. as far as the transom goes I'm planning on pouring Seacast for mine, but before I ripped the old one out I noticed that my original transom was made up of 3 layers of plywood to achieve the curve. The wood's pretty rotten, but you might be able to tell from this picture:

So let's get some more information (and pictures!) on your Westfield. What motor are you going to put on it? Did it come with one? I saw in one of your other posts that your Gypsy came with a Merc, would that work here?

I sold the Gypsy to pay for my "65 Glassmaster.The Westfield is on hold for now(not enough $!)I do like the MFG'S,and MANY other old boats!!!
