Any one know of someone in the Hampton Roads area in south east Virginia? I have a 1994 Chaparral sunesta 252 with a catamaran hull. The transom is soft and I want to have it looked at so I know what its going to cost me to fix. Thank you.

This boat is commonly called a Fiberglass Deck boat. If the Transom is bad, there's a very good chance you have more going on below the deck as well. I'm fairly certain that your hull is Foam Filled. The foam could be waterlogged causing the boat to be 100's of pounds heavier. The stringers and bulkheads could have issues as well. Are there any soft spots in the floor? Boats that are 20+ years old usually have these types of problems. I'd recommend you do some intensive investigation. Most of the members on the forum do their own restoration work. It's just to expensive to hire it out, AND you just never know what kind of workmanship you're gunna get. I'd guess a transom repair on your boat would run somewhere in the $5,000 dollar range if you were to hire it out. Again, there's no guarantee what kind of work you'd get. It's a big boat and a big job. If you have a workplace and the time and willingness, the guys here on the forum can get you thru it.;)
