Well, I spent about 45 minutes looking for a thread that shows specifically how to put a new transom in a fiberglass outboard. I've already glued up the replacement transom and will be encapsulating it with 1.5 oz CSM. I've seen a couple of good clamping suggestions and think I've got that figured out. Can someone tell me the best adhesive for attaching the plywood to the transom? Fiber-thickened resin?

After I get the transom bonded in, I'll be putting a fillet of fiber-thickened resin around the edge and tabbing it in with 1708 biax. What should I cover the inside of the transom with? Would 2 plies of 1708 biax suffice?

Many thanks!

Re: Transom Replacement Ply Layup

Thickened resin will be the way to go to "glue" the new transom to the outer skin. Resin, milled fibers and cabosil. 2 layers of 1708 would provide plenty of extra strength and waterproofing.
