transom replacement

i am going to replace part of my flooring and have noticed that the transom is rotted.
the 1974 15ft. sticksteer cost me 400.00 with chrysler 45hp motor, trolling motor .please don't say make an ancher out of it.
now i plan on doing this myself and would like some advice or a site that will show and tell me the proper proceedure for this project.
i am guessing that the top edge around the boat will need to be cut away?
i have bought some things that i need and have acquired some others and the wood will be free .

The procedure can differ from boat to boat. Post some pics if you can. We love pics.

read around on the fourms. there is alot about transom rebuilds and floor restorations. i386 did a nice boat up or is in the process of doing a boat im sure he'd be able to give you some advice. Ive dont alot of transoms and all I do is sperate the top of the hull from the bottom of the hull, knock out all the old rotten wood (cut some out to) cut a bunch of peices of ply wood, screw them together, slide it in and glass it up.


As for the floor its a matter of ripping the floor up like all the wood, replacing the stringers, maybe replacing some of the foam, put new ply wood down, glass it up and your good to go.

The 2 mins it takes u to read this is nice but all this will take you 2 weeks +

A word of caution before you start,keep the deck and Hull together if replacing the floor so you don't lose the hull's shape......If your doing just the transom separate the deck and hull You can check my transom rebuild below might help you out
