Hope this is where this goes.

Hopefully I will explain my question well enough to understand. I just installed a transom saver frame mount and I am slightly concerned that a 1/4" bolt is the only thing supporting my 180pd Mercury outboard. I have two questions regarding my concern. First, should I be concerned or worried about the bolt braeking with all that weight? Second, there is a hydraulic tilt (not power trim) on the motor, should I apply that tilt to relieve some weight on the saver? Thanks in advance.

Re: Transom saver and motor tilt

The transom saver doesnt hold up ALL the weight of the engine. Its just to keep it from bouncing around too much and stressing the transon.

I lower mine down until it just makes solid contact with the saver....

Re: Transom saver and motor tilt

So are you saying lift the motor up and hit the lock switch so some of the weight is off the saver? I do not have a power tilt and trim just a hydraulic helper which is squishy (sp) and does not lock immediately. Does this make sense? I am not sure I am explainig myself correctly.
