I have an '84 15 foot 5 inch Rinker W/ Johnson 70. I think this rig came out just at the advent of transom savers. I only go 10 miles or less to the lake, but will go 3 hours away later in the summer for vacation. It has a trailering latch on the tilt that I always use, but would a transom saver to the trailer be better, or is my engine light enough to not worry?

Thanks,

Jeff

The way I see it is, every little bit helps. :) It's cheap insurance.

if not, transom saver is not recommended if you don't have electric tilt. Otherwise I vote yes, your motor is heavy enough. My 1980 fiberglass boat/70hp 'rude came on a trailer with a T/S fabricated by the dealer.
