was hoping somebody could give me some help. i've got a 96 lund with a merc. eng. and drive. i need to replace the bellows and gimbal bearing. I have found some on the internet, but unsure if they'll fit.
my transom serial # is OF57????
the parts ad says it will fit alpha one/gen 2 from '91-99
is this the part i need?
it is a kit that includes everything i need.

Since you don't give a clue as to the PN of the kit you "Found On the Internet" it's hard to say if it's the right one or not.
The OEM kit you need is PN 30-803099T 1

Forgot to mention, if you are going to change all of that, I would suggest you also change the shift cable. Here I would strongly suggest the OEM part. MUCH, MUCH better than any aftermarket cable. and only a few dollars difference.
Merc PN is 865436A02
Did you have water in the bellows by any chance????

I never really paid attention to it, but it does work.and smoothly.

Since you had water in the bellows, you also need to replace the ujoints. They will have water in them also and it's just a matter of time.
You could also find water in the gear lube. This could be because the yoke is rusty and damaged the seal that rides on the rusty yoke.
Yes, the kit includes the shift cable bellows. To replace it, you have to remove the shift cable. The cables go bad from wear and corrosion. For 50 some bucks, it just makes sense to replace it while everything is apart. The labor requiered to replace the cable bellows is the same as replacing the cable.

Re: transom seal kit req'd

here's what the kit says it contains.
30-60794A4- gimbal bearing
27-64818A3- gasket set
27-94996Q2- gasket set
74639- shift bellows
816431A1- U-joint bellows
32734A3- exhaust bellows
18654A1- exhaust bellows
32-32461- coolant hose
32-41725-33- coolant hose
the ad is for a gen 1/OR a gen two, so some of the numbers may reflect one kit or the other. apparantly he has both. each kit comes with two sizes of coolant hoses. am I even close?
also, what would this kit be worth?

Yes, it can be hard. And you need the oem service manual to do the job. I assume you have one? If not, expect failure.

Yes! Just as Don says, it is a major PITA!
I just replaced all the Bellows, trim limit switch and sender, lower shift cable, and water hose. GET the OEM manual and take your time! The shift cable, I had to heat the bell housing to remove it. It was frozen  and would not budge! I do have it all back together and everything adjusted!:D
You will need to buy all the correct tools, i.e. shift cable socket, bell housing socket and engine alignment tool.

i don't have the manual myself, but i do have access to one at the shop i work at casually.
unfortunatly, i wont be there for a while, and was wondering if those were the right parts.
They are 1/3 the price i can get them for here, so i'm hoping they are.
