Just replaced the transom seal, would this be a redo?

Can you give a readers digest version of what was done prior to transom, and how new assembly was installed?

Sure, this is a complete restoration, new transom and stringers, new steering swivel pin etc,
I used bellows adhesive to hold the gasket in place, put a small bead of 4200 on outer edge of seal and its all torqued down, while cleaning up the 4200 of the outdrive, noticed the seal got pinched

In that case, unless its leaking I wouldn't worry about it.
Only think I might be seeing other then the slight pinch, is the 4200 breaking up. I installed with nothing but the seal

Thanks AD
I haven't installed any more of the outdrive yet so I could pull it apart and replace the seal if there is a chance of it leaking there.

I know factory says to install the seal dry, some like myself think there getting an extra layer of security with the additional 4200

When it leaks, remember that you had your chance to fix it before adding back all that stuff. I am restoring an 86 Sea Ray. I added 5200 Black under and around transom seal, but as seal compressed over days, it produced bubbles under 5200. I went back and inserted 5200 inside each cavity that was created by air. Of course I had taped off white boat prior to 5200 addition. I filled bilge after wards with fresh water to test my work for leaks. I stopped before water went into gimbal/drive hole. No leaks!. Then I reconnected hardware. My restoration manual does not mention adding 5200, but sea water rusted about 3/4s of my 7/16" Gimbal housing studs so much I that I replaced with new ones. Water got in some way. Most rot creeps upwards from drain hole area. That area on my boat is now all epoxy/fumed silicon/fiber glass matt and cloth. Good luck!.

I used only a bit of bellows adhesive to hold the gasket in place during assembly. I figure that if anything else was needed, Merc would have specified it.
