Transom Size

Recently purchased a Reveria 18' toon. The transom on this boat is huge. It is 36" wide and doesn't have a taper to it. The bottom is also flat, not v shaped. I question this because it kicks up an enormus ammount of water. So much that you cannot see the motor from the side. The water even shoots out forward of the last deck brace. The motor is a 48hp Johnson, boat is rated for a 70hp. I can't fingure out why it would have such a large transom. I've look at other boats around here and haven't found any that come close to this size, most are 24 inches wide and taper down to somthing like 10 inches, there is no taper on this transom. I suspect somone put this on trying to lift the back of the boat as it sits very low in the stern, about 3/4of the toons are in the water. I think the boat sits this way because all of the weight is aft of the center of gravity. I'm thinking of putting a smaller transom on, any ideas. Thanks in advance

HAve you checked to see if there is any water in the tubes, which would cause it to sit low??? I know this does not explain the transom issue.

Re: Transom Size

I have checked for water in the toon, doesn't appear to have any. The toons are small, 19" or so, as I said earlier, everything ont he boat is aft of the center line. I will post some pictures as soon as I can. Thanks!
