1993 Chris Craft Concept 217 BR w/ OMC 5.0 L EFI Cobra... I am putting my boat back together and am having trouble using the existing holes for the front motor mounts. I think I may be off a little on the thickness of the transom when I rebuilt it. I can pry the motor mounts back and get the bolts in, but there is a lot of pressure on the rear mounts and the front ones are flexing... I am worried about putting stress on the mounts. I am also going to have to adjust the mounts a bunch to get close to the alignment tool to be close... The coupler hole is a little high. The original transom was 2" thick. I think I am about 1/8" + over that. I didn't think it was going to be a big deal... I am getting ready to pull everything out and sand down the inside transom. Any thoughts. I am bummed out. I am tired of sanding!

Re: Transom Thickness/Engine Alignment?

Well... I thought about it for a while. I took the transom bracket off and measured the thickness. It is 2" - 2 1/8" at the most. I couldn't see how that would affect it too much. I put it all back together and reversed the way I bolted down the front brackets. It still was kind of tough to line up, but I got the bolts in and tightened everything up. The alignment tool still wouldn't go in, so I lowered the to adjustment nuts and it slid in, not real easy, I had to push it in... I felt a little better and have called it a night... I will fine tune the adjustments tomorrow...
