after i get my merc motor checked out, i would like to pull the motor off and store in garage. its a 65hp 1970 ,on a 72 glastron, though the transom looks solid, considering the boats age, could doing this lead to damaging the transom. since the boat has been garaged by previous owners, i cannot fit the boat in my garage but its the motor i would like to. ????

Re: transom

Just removing the engine will not damamge the transom, unless it is damaged and soft already.

However, upon reinstalling, be sure to seal all of the hole well to prevent water instusion and damaging the transom for sure...
