If you don't use it for an extended period of time, you stabilize the gas and oil the cylinders. Getting the water out of the block and adding antifreeze is still a good idea for the sake of slowing rust. If you're using it year-round, then no you don't need to winterize it that far below the Mason Dixon line.

Willie has it right. I dont run in saltwater much so I dont put antifreeze in the block. I just drain it.

28 degrees in Fort Worth Texas today.... Am I below the MASON DIXON LINE? , why risk cracking a $3000.00 block to spend $50.00 to winterize?????? YOU HAVE NO IDEA how cold it will get.. WHY take a chance?

I am in Louisiana too. If I think it will be cold enough to do damage I just put a 150 watt light blub under the engine cover.

It may not get below freezing there much, and simple precautions certainly can win the day, but only if you take those precautions on the one day that you need to. <br />I am now looking at a pair of manifolds from the south that were broken by ice just a few weeks ago. Luckily the owner's block had a better time of it but he is still out a few hundred dollars he did not have to lose...
