Test Drive the boat before you buy it! Regardless of the boat.

Tri-hulls typically plane and handle very well. The down side is they tend to slap the front end and ride rougher as such in choppy water.

Quantum leap is right, if you are going to use this boat in choppy waters, you might want to pass! Been there, done that, and you will hate it after awhile beating you to death, And it will.

thanks for the advice but I live here in utah so I only go out on small lakes and resaviors.
so choppy water is not a real problem.
The only problen I have is the waves the other boaters make.

Hey What,
If your boat has a square front end, take other people's wakes by going over them corner first rather than head on. This will reduce the amount of banging you take from that design of boat. And make sure you have the front end up and
not on plane when you hit those waves.
I'll also warn you that even a 8 - 10" chop on the water is enough to "slap" the front end, just as quantum leap and lube dube have mentioned.

Take it for a test run. Not all tri-hulls slap, there were good designs and bad designs. The way you can sort of tell how it will handle is to look at the transom. If there is pronounced V at the transom, it will handle better than one that is more flat at the transom. Click my link, the first picture is of the transom end of my rig, if it looks like that, it will handle well. Mine handles very rough water as good if not better than a V-hull. You have to try it out to know for sure. you should always try to hit wakes at a 45 degree angle if possible. I don't bother with that myself, my tri-hull plows through the wakes with just a small bumping, it has never slapped. Good luck....
