I am currently trying to install a new ignition switch in my 84 Bayliner Capri. I purchased a new 3 position plus push to choke switch from Seasense. All was going well (no sparks) until I went to turn the key on and the engine turned over in the run position before even getting to the start position. I know I am probably one wire off but I don't know which one. I have old switch out an the new one is labeled with the same letters but they are in a little different position. :(

Well seeing as how you didn't supply any info on the motor there is really nothing anyone can do for you, different manufacturers use different wiring.

post the motor info and you will get some help.

Now take that info and try asking the guys in the Force motor section of the forum, you will probably be able to find a wiring diagram from one of the guys.

Last time I posted electrical over there with this same switch issue I got moved over here because it's an electrical issue. I'm stuck. Unless you have pull over there.

Re-post it over there as Help needed with Force ignition wiring.........they more than likely assumed it was general electric issues associated with a Bayliner instead of a Force.

Not necessary to keep jumping back and forth. Obviously you attached the wire that actuates the starter solenoid to the RUN position on the switch. I also question whether you have the correct switch since most OUTBOARD ignition switches have B, C, I, S, M and A terminals as a minimum. The switch you have may be for an auto style I/O engine that only requires OFF, RUN and START. But then I certainly do not claim to be a Force engine expert.
