So I have searched this forum up and down and nothing seems to be for what I’m experiencing. I am incredibly handy and have repaired auto engines. I mean stripping down entire blocks. Not just changing the oil. Lol. This is my first boat I’m picking up. Here’s the issue.

Force 125 will not raise when I hit the up switch for trim and tilt.

Cant be the relay as the motor on the assembly is running hard. But no lift

I removed the manual screw release screw and fluid spit out. Scratch that shot out. It was brown not water in it.

I can lift the outboard by hand. The motor running does not help. It’s just me physically raising it up. It doesn’t hold their either. Comes right back down.

Fully charge battery.

Am am I missing something basic. Or am I rebuilding the unit?

First off there is NO manual release on a Force T@T :(

The brown is probably aerated oil(gazillions of tiny bubbles).
Probably from running the motor??

Motor all the way down.
Remove the fill screw and check the oil level.
Needs 30w oil, fill till it comes out the hole.

Then if it doesn't work?? you'll need to take apart the bottom of the trim pump.
There are 2 relief valves, the tiny seals might need to be replaced.
The #3 post in this section has a couple of T@T repair posts.

The ONLY thing serviceable in the pump body is the 2 seals.
If you start taking the pump apart, you might not get it back together.

In the top posts is a T@T leak down test.
The tilt ram could be bad allowing the oil to bypass and not lift the motor.

Thanks for your reply! I don’t understand your post Jerry. Are you saying I should or should not take the pump apart? How do I test for a bad ram?

In the top post #3 and section #6 I believe is the directions for a leak down test for the whole system.

You system is in 3 sections.
#1: is the trim motor itself.
#2 is the tilt and trim rams
#3 is the hyd. high pressure pump. The pump is a 2 part system.
1st part is the pump itself.NO repairs to the pump.
2nd part is the valves in the bottom, The only thing YOU can work on is the 2 seals in the very bottom of the pump. post #3 section #2 shows the only part you can work on. Pieces,1/2/3/4 The pump body is shown in the #2
The directions shown will make it possible for you to fix the leak down.

DON'T touch anything on the pump other than the 2 pieces on the bottom..

Sometimes if the unit has been in salt water the pump is about IMPOSSIBLE to take apart :(

This is a saga. So I replaced the pump and the motor. Motor was on its last leg so it turned out. Turned it on and fluid poured out of the banjo fitting on the side of the cylinder. I removed the fitting. But how in the heck am I supposed to line that collar up perfectly enough.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You put collar on, hook up the hyd.line.
Then slowly tighten the fitting on the banjo fitting.
It's not that hard to do.
