Here is the deal, I drained all the oil out of my trim pump, disconnected the lines and pushed fresh oil thru the hoses, reconnected everything and now the trim goes up and down, but you can grab the outdrive and lift up and down, just like it is on a spring, the lines were bled,
Any ideas on what to try and look at or for. There is plenty of fresh oil on the reservoir.

Thanks

Re: tilt and trim help

Did you get all the extra air out of the lines? If there's an airlock in there somewhere it could be not allowing a full fill.

Run it up and down a bunch of times and keep the pump reservoir full. They are self bleeding.

I ran it up and down several times and still the same thing, would it be possible to have reversed the lines when i reinstalled them? would that cause it?

Re: tilt and trim help

Anything is possible, look at how you hooked it up and compare to the manual.

Thanks Don, the lines are all hooked up right according to the manual, so i guess i will just keep bleeding it until something changes.

Re: tilt and trim help

Ok, just to update on this issue, i just took the bleed screw off and a bunch of airr came out of the reservoir, ran the tilt up and down a dozen times or so, the reservoir is full, but i am still having the same issue, i can still lift the out drive up and down about 6 inches, it acts like it is on a spring...it worked great last time i used it...any ideas?

Thanks

Re: tilt and trim help

Would any happen to have a clear pic of the trim hydrolics line showing the correct connection, i have the 2 hose connection rams, with both connections on the same end of the ram, close to the boat.

Thanks

Re: tilt and trim help

Ok, after realizing that i had the trim lines hooked up correctly the first time, I am having the same issue with the outdrive, it goes up and down great, but if you stop it in any position, you can grab the out drive and lift it up about 4-6 inches, i have bled it and it appears to be no more air in the system, any ideas on what could be the problem? Getting frustrated as I am wanting to get on the lake and use the boat.

Thanks

Re: tilt and trim help update but still issues...

Ok here is the update to this issue, bled the lines just like bleeding breaks on a car and that seems to work...but not totally, with the out drive in the completely down position, i am still able to lift the motor up about 3 inches,,,but if i raise the motor up there is no play in the out drive at all....Anyone have any ideas on what could be the issue...

I have a similar setup to you I think and was having the same issue.Mine turned out to be the reverse lock valve.Changed the o-rings,adjusted and now mine works fine, doesn't move no matter where the drive is trimmed at.
