I have a 1985 thundercraft I/O. When I try to raise the trim all I get is a clicking sound. I have done continuity checks on the 50 amp fuses and they all check good. Any suggestions on what I should check next?

So, what does a 1985 thundercraft I/O have for power and drive? Mercruiser, Volvo, OMC????

I replaced a trim tab motor in my 19 ft fishing boat that was doing the same clicking trip.
It took awhile for me to find the nerve to do it, but after looking inside the motor, I knew the poor thing had lifted it's last ounce of fluid. The motor commutator was totally gone as was one of the brushes. :)

I replaced the solenoids on my 74 and it stopped the clicking problem.
Also, check for poor connections.
