Trim down clicking/intermittent

I have an 03 Crownline with an Alpha One outdrive, and am having issues where the outdrive will trim up/trailer fine, but clicks from the solenoid when I attempt to trim down. If I keep pressing re button on and off I can sometimes get it to go down, but most of the time it is clicking now. Is this a solenoid issue since the motor is running fine trimming up?

if the solenoid clicks and nothing happens, short the 2 large lugs on the solenoid. If it works jumping it the solenoid is bad

yes it is... the solenoid with the green wire from the pump is your culprit... in the pumps I have seen it is the one mounted on the bottom of the two

yes it is...

Bold statement. I'd want to check a few other things before I jump to that sort of conclusion.

Test the following:
Connections are clean and tight from the battery
Connections are clean and tight to the pump motor
Ensure you have 12v on the red side of the solenoid
And as BT suggested, jump the 2 large cables on the solenoid to check it's not the motor itself.

Ayuh,.... I'd start the diagnosis by Cleanin' to shiny metal Clean, all the connections at the solenoids, 'n pump,....

Includin' the Grounds, 'n power cable,....

What achris and Bondo said. Had similar issues with my trim until I cleaned everything up and put strain relief (zip ties) on wiring. That was 3 years ago and I've had no issues since. Could still be a bad solenoid, but do the cheap stuff first.

Thanks guys, I'm going to start tackling it after my coffee. I'll post results when I (hopefully) get it fixed.
