Can anyone provide the correct procedures for topping off trim fluid in a Force 120 Trim Motor ?

I am aware that the fluid needs to be level with the bottom of the fill hole in the trim motor, but the only way to get to it is to trim all the way up which I believe will provide a higher false read of the fluid .
Someone suggested that I trim up, remove the plug, fill the trim motor with as much fluid it will take before pouring out, leave the plug off, trim the motor down, let the excess leak out, trim back up and screw the plug back in.

Will this provide the correct amount of fluid in the system?

Raise it up to access the pump.

For safety sake, I always block the motor in the up position, just in case the check valves fail.

Open, fill, close.
Cycle up and down a few times to purge lines.
Check fluid level.

raise fully, top off, replace plug, cycle down and back up. remove plug and recheck fluid level.

The system is designed to compress and decompress trapped air in the reservoir as it lowers and raises. You should never lower the system with filler plug removed.
