Re: trim gauge on 2002 txra
The sending unit only has the red, (or pink), and black which is routed up into the engine housing, They connect into a terminal. A single wire, the trim sender lead, which carries the signal will exit the engine housing and run up through the wire bundle and, (hopefully), to your dash. It will not necessarily be the same color as what exits the housing, and in your boat, since it did not originally come with a trim gauge, it may terminate somewhere aft of your dash, but it may be there. On my boat the trim sender lead is black with a white stripe. The trim gauge will have three posts. One for the sender lead, one for a positive and one for a negative, (for the light in the gauge). Negative is always solid black, in my Ranger the positive for the instrument lights is purple. If you have a wire that you suspect might be the trim sender lead you can verify by putting an ohm meter on it and as someone moves the pin up and down on the sender you will see the ohm meter register between 0 and 165 ohms if you have the right wire.
