trim goes down, but not up

I purchased my first I/O and am not familiar with how the power trim is supposed to work. I have a 83 Celebrity boat with Mercruiser 470 and Alpha I sterndrive. The power trim works fine going down, but does nothing when I hit the up position, no clicks, nothing. Is there something I have to do for up to work when it's on the trailer? Thanks for any help. If you have a 3 button trim panel (UP, UP/OUT, IN), thsn try pressing the top 2 buttons together. If that works and the drive goes up, then you havd a problem in the trim limit circuit. Usually the switch on the side of the gimbal ring.

I pushed a button labeled "trailer" and that one brought it up. Apparently, the trim up button only works when in water? Or the up sw is not working? I have another concern with anti-freeze I will post in a different thread. Thanks for the reply Chris.

The UP button will only work when the drive is all the way down, IF the trim limit switch is working and set correctly, and will bring the drive to about 1/3 up.. And it should work whether the boat's on the trailer or in the water.
