Trim guage not working

I have a 2005 Four Winns 190 Horizon with a Volvo Penta 5.0GL motor. I changed the prop and the boat ran for the day. The next day the prop tilt guage stopped working. The guage is sticking in the full up position, but periodically drops down, but not accurately. I checked the wire connections and they seem fine. I am assuming the guage is bad. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Be sure the connections ARE fine. Seperate, clean and reassemble. Then you'll know the problem is not them and maybe save buying unneeded parts.

Mine doesn't work either. I don't plan on fixing it. It's kinda like the gear indicator light on my motorcycle..... Pointless.

Turn your ign. ON.if the trim gauge sticks tap the gauge with your hand if it drops the gauge is no good.hook a ohms meter to back off gauge (sender wire) and to a ground under the dash. then trim up and down and make sure the reading is smooth. if not sender on side of transom bracket is NFG..
Hope this help you out.

sender wire is just a ground , no worries

I'm dealing with the same symptoms right now but I've identified broken/rotten wires at the sending unit. I know you said you've verified the wiring, but it can be tricky to see in there so it may be worth a 2nd look!

Before you mess around with the sending unit itself, be sure you mark the current position! The part number for the sending unit is stamped on the inside face.
Good luck
